Mining Engineering is the branch of engineering which involves the science, technology and application of extracting the valuable minerals and coal from the earth crust and processing minerals from a natural environment for the benefits in our day-to-day life. Mining engineering is associated with many other disciplines, such as mineral processing, exploration, excavation, geology, and metallurgy, geotechnical engineering and surveying etc.
It is the practice of applying engineering principles to planning, development, operation, drilling & blasting operation, safety, closure and reclamation of mines. As per the academic curriculum of S.C.T.E & V.T is continuously revised to keep alongside of the industry needs as well as the vision and an all-round development of students, which is aimed through practical trainings, gas testing facilities, study tours, seminars, project works, we provide vocational trainings for all the students and a host the other extracurricular activities also.
The Department has well qualified and experienced faculty and staff who work in the field of Mining Technology (Underground/ Opencast) & Surveying in both Metal & Coal mining sector.
We help to provide best ‘Miners’ who can extract the resources like minerals & coal from the earth crust by the process of ‘Mining’ with their creative knowledge.
Our Mining Department have well-equipped labs to cater the needs of the diploma students. The Details of Laboratories are as follows:
- Mine Survey Lab
- Mine Geology Lab
- Mine Ventilation Lab
- Mine Hazard & Safety Lab
- Mine Machinery Lab
- Gas Testing Chamber
- To improve the academic as well as co-curricular activities of the students.
- To organize activities for students in order to develop their soft skills that would aid them in their career prospects.
- To increase awareness of the students on the current state of affairs of the mining industry and to help them keep pace with the latest and emerging trends in the industry.
- To educate students to play an active role in industry, satisfying present and future needs of a global society through the development and implementation of revolutionary technologies for the extraction of mineral resources, and construction of underground structures in a socially responsible, economically viable, and environmentally sound manner.
- To provide high quality engineers to ensure the safe and efficient development of mine and other surface and underground operation.
- To produce technically competent and well-educated mining engineers who have team skills and are able to work in mining and mining-related industries.
- To educate mining engineers who can follow and utilize the technological developments that may occur during their careers and recognize the needs of an environmentally sensitive society.
- To provide knowledge of production of minerals using newer technologies keeping in view the conservation & environmental protection.
- To provide basic conceptual knowledge in the fields of mining operation & mine planning by competent faculties.
